HEALTHY HABITS DAY 9: Breath of Life

The Rule of 3 states that a person can live for about 3 minutes without oxygen, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food (likely longer). This makes adequate air and hydration top priorities for health.
Deep breathing is one of our easiest, most convenient and natural tools to stimulate the mind-body connection, oxygenate your cells and reduce stress.
Some amazing benefits of breathing exercises include:
➢ Increases energy: the amount of oxygen that we inhale through our breathing, influences the amount of energy that is released into our body cells. The more oxygen that is in the blood, the better our body functions.
➢ Improves mental clarity: practicing deep breathing can alter your brain waves into a state of focus and relaxation. Practicing breathing exercises and mindfulness can lead to better mental health, reduced stress and anxiety and fosters positive emotions.
➢ Relieves pain: deep breathing triggers the release of endorphins, which not only helps create a calming feeling, but also combats pain.
➢ Stimulates the lymphatic system & detoxifies the body: respiration is responsible for 70% of cleansing the body of toxins (the other 30% is through bladder and bowels.) If you do not breathe fully, your body must work harder to release these toxins.
➢ Improves immunity: when blood is well oxygenated, it carries and absorbs nutrients and vitamins more efficiently. Clean blood equals a strong immune system that can stave off viruses and pathogens.
