HEALTHY HABITS DAY 12: SLEEP

Sleep is crucial to health and healing. An underestimated healthy habit (superpower) for our physical, mental and emotional well-being.
While we sleep, so many incredible processes are happening in the body. All of our organs detoxify, cells and tissues repair, the brain clears out harmful toxins. We process our thoughts and emotions from the day.
Ultimately, good quality sleep allows the brain and body to rest, repair, our mind and soul to rejuvenate.
Not getting enough adequate quality or quantity of sleep, however, causes stress on the body, affects hormone levels and proper functioning of organ systems. Poor sleep can throw your circadian rhythm out of balance and if not addressed can lead to tiredness/low energy levels, brain fog, blood sugar dysregulation, and adrenal fatigue in the long term.
Some benefits of getting good quality sleep includes:
Reduces stress & inflammation
Boosts your immune system
Increases energy, concentration & alertness
Improves memory, mood & mental health
Lowers risk of heart disease and chronic illnesses
Maintains weight. (Actually, nutrition (including hydration), exercise & sleep are the perfect weight loss trifecta)
